Aims and Scope

The Journal of Research and Applications in Mechanical Engineering (JRAME) is a peer-review journal that publishes original research and review articles in the main fields of mechanical engineering from all around the world. The journal focuses on important mechanical engineering issues. JRAME aims to provide the most complete and reliable source of information on current developments in the field. Its emphasis is on rapidly publishing quality manuscripts that are freely available to researchers, scientists, and academics around the world. Topics of interest to JRAME include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Thermo-Fluid Sciences

Alternative Energy and Combustion (AEC), Thermal System and Fluid Mechanics (TSF), Energy Technology and Management (ETM), and Computation and Simulation Techniques (CST) related to Thermo-Fluid Sciences

  • Solid Mechanics

Applied Mechanics, Materials, and Manufacturing (AMM), and Computation and Simulation Techniques (CST) related to Solid Mechanics

  • Control Engineering

Dynamic Systems, Robotics, and Controls (DRC)

  • Other areas related to mechanical engineering

Other areas of emphasis include Automotive, Aerospace, and Marine Engineering (AME), Biomechanics and Bioengineering (BME) and Engineering Education (EDU)

All manuscripts submitted to JRAME undergo a double-blind peer review by at least two or three expert reviewers to ensure that the articles adhere in the aims and scope of the journal as well as being sound and of high scientific quality and transparency. The peer review system consists of internal and external reviewers. An internal reviewer is a member of the JRAME editorial board while external reviewers are those who are not members of the JRAME editorial board. All reviewers of the JRAME peer review system are experts in mechanical engineering. The JRAME editorial board undergoes revision every two years, in alignment with the tenure of the Thai Society of Mechanical Engineers committee board.

JRAME also supports potential authors to publish results of research, applications, ideas, and innovations related to mechanical engineering, as well as the development of classical and new theories, methodologies, and techniques in the field. JRAME also promotes collaboration and motivates the exchange of ideas among researchers around the world.

Types of published articles

JRAME publishes original research and review articles.

1. Research articles report original research findings in mechanical engineering and in other related fields. A research article must include a distinct research question, methodology, results, and conclusion. An article must also provide research findings, explicit discussion, and contributions to the fields.

2. Review articles provide comprehensive reviews of the existing literature on a specific topic related to mechanical engineering. Review articles should critically analyze and synthesize an overview of the literature, including but not limited to, identifying knowledge gaps, and suggesting future research and investigations. The total length of the review manuscript is variable and may be more than a research manuscript depending on the topic.

Publication Frequency

JRAME publishes two issues per year (January–June and July–December). JRAME maintains timely and consistent publication of high-quality articles related to mechanical engineering.

Language

All JRAME articles are published in the English language with proper grammar and correct spellings. The authors are encouraged to have their manuscripts checked by a native English speaker before submission.

Publication Charges

Accepted articles will be published with no article processing charge (APC). All articles published in our journal are open access that are freely and widely available to all readers via the journal website. However, authors shall be informed well in advance if the APC policy is to be changed, subject to the policy of the Thai Society of Mechanical Engineers (TSME).

Open Access Policy

JRAME started publishing on an online platform of the Thai Journal Online (ThaiJO) database in 2018. The journal aims to promote open access to scientific research and to make research accessible to anyone, anywhere in the world. As an open-access journal, JRAME uses "Paper Nos." instead of traditional page numbers.

Ownership and Management

Thai Society of Mechanical Engineers (TSME) is the honored owner of the Journal of Research and Applications in Mechanical Engineering (JRAME). One of the society’s objectives is to be a center for research studies and academic consultations in mechanical engineering for members and interested parties. TSME fully supports the journal in financial, operational, and management matters. The TSME proctors JRAME to preserve its high publication standards, rigorous peer-review process, and open-access availability to researchers, scientists, and academics around the world.

Publisher

JRAME is published by the Thai Society of Mechanical Engineers (TSME), Thammasat University, Khlong Nueng, Khlong Luang, Bangkok 12120, Thailand.

Copyright and Licensing

JRAME is sensitive to author rights and copyright protection. Since JRAME supports potential authors in publishing results of research, applications, ideas, and innovations related to mechanical engineering, the authors and TSME retain copyright ownership. Both parties should be protected from the consequences of unauthorized use. Partial or sole publication of an article elsewhere is possible only with the consent of both parties. Articles are licensed under a Creative Commons (CC) Copyright License, allowing sharing, adaptation, and proper attribution. CC is an international nonprofit organization that empowers people to grow and sustain the thriving commons of shared knowledge. JRAME allows readers to download and share all published articles if they properly cite such articles; however, they cannot change them or use them commercially. This is classified as a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike (CC BY-NC-SA) for the creative commons license. With the retention of copyright and publishing rights, JRAME allows the authors of published articles to hold copyrights and publishing rights with no restrictions.

Plagiarism is when an author attempts to present someone else’s work or the author copies content without providing an appropriate citation. The journal will check for plagiarism in all submitted articles using Turnitin software. A submitted paper could be rejected based on the percentage of similarity with other published work. If issues are detected, the corresponding author will be notified.

Information about author rights and licensing requirements are provided in the author guidelines. JRAME provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

Revenue Sources

The Thai Society of Mechanical Engineers (TSME) financially supports JRAME. Revenue management is organized by TSME. JRAME revenue and financial information are regularly reported in the minutes of the monthly meetings of the TSME committee board. Revenue and financial information do not affect decisions of the JRME editorial board. The editorial board cannot interrupt the double-blind peer review system when manuscripts are submitted to the peer review system. This is to ensure article quality and journal transparency.

Advertising and Direct Marketing

The JRAME editorial board considers and makes decisions on relevant and appropriate advertisements and direct marketing based on relevance, quality, and ethics. Advertisement and marketing do not play any role in the decisions of the editorial board. The journal emphasis focuses on rapidly publishing quality manuscripts that are freely available to researchers, scientists, and academics around the world. JRAME upholds the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) and maintains transparency by obtaining consent and respecting PDPA regulations.

Journal History

JRAME began in 2011 publishing up-to-date research articles related to mechanical engineering studies. In 2014, we started publishing two issues per year. Our journal is the only one in Thailand publishing original research articles in main fields of mechanical engineering from all around the world. The journal evolved from publishing articles in two language, Thai (with English abstracts) and English articles to publishing only English language articles in 2012. In 2018, the journal started publishing only in an online platform organized by the Thai Journal Online (ThaiJO) database. JRAME has worked very closely with the Thai-Journal Citation Index Center to continue improving its quality.

Appropriate technologies involving mechanical engineering are very welcome such as those for efficient charcoal stoves, solar stills, solar dryers, and improved or innovative human-powered devices, among many others. Those who have innovative ideas, concepts, alternative means, and theories in mechanical engineering are encouraged to submit their original manuscripts which, indeed, will get expedited treatment from JRAME since we are very keen on innovation. It is our firm intention that JRAME will be a well-balanced academic journal in mechanical engineering wherein theory, experimentation, applications and innovation can, in an integrative manner, help enhance and advance the science of mechanical engineering.
