The Development of Cotton Ginning Machine
Main Article Content
Abstract
The objectives of this research are to 1) study and develop the operation of the cotton ginning machine, 2) build a cotton ginning machine controlled by the motor system, and 3) enhance the performance of cotton ginning in order to gain more cotton product and meet the market demand. Consequently, this could increase the community income and also helps to increase products from cotton as a raw material. The structure of the cotton ginning machine consists of a 1/4 hp-220 volt electric motor that drives the belt and rotates the saw blade axis. The weight of the body of the cotton ginning machine is approximately 18 kilograms. It consists of stainless steel and acrylic structure, control box, and on/off button. The machine uses the motor to drive the belt and saw the blade to work. It also drives a brush to fluff the cotton. The cotton seeds will be separated and fall into the rear part of the machine. The experiment showed that the traditional cotton ginning machine using the roller gin method provided cotton of 12.36 g/min or 0.74 kg/hr, but the developed machine performed 324 g/min or 3.89 kg/hr. This is 3.56 kg more than the result of the traditional one.
