Main Article Content
Abstract
This research aims to: 1) study the wisdom of pottery production process, exploration of soil sources, test of physical properties and chemical analysis of the soil, 2) develop and assemble a kiln, compound coating rate to improve the formation of product that suitable for adding value and design contemporary pottery based on needs of the users, and 3) produce the De-iron filter of groundwater based on the ratio of clay and potassium permanganate (KMnO4). The results of the research found that: 1) The traditional pottery production process consisted of 7 steps. The physical properties of the clay were found to be 7.8% before shrinkage and 8.3% after shrinkage. The pre-burn strength was 38.02 kg/cm2. And after burning was 101 kg/cm2. Chemical analysis results found that Silica (58.04%), Alumina (20%), Calcium oxide (2.85%), Sodium oxide (0.75%), potassium dioxide (0.48%) and iron oxide (5.56%). 2) The development of a 3.5-cubic meters horizontal hot-air furnace kiln using a resistant brick. The furnace wall can be burned more than 850°C, and it is found that suitable coatings for pottery products of Ban Suk community was ranged between 650 – 800°C 3) The production of De-iron filter by using soil as support, found that the soil was coated with potassium permanganate burned at 300°C and above. 4) The satisfaction assessment showed that the aspect of production of local pottery was 3.95. The physical properties and chemical analysis of soil were used in the production of clay was 3.77. The aspect of development of a prototype kiln performance of the kiln, the coating and the contemporary product was 4.0 and the production of the rusted iron filter from the soil buoyant was 4.77
