Abstract

The feed manufacturing industry plays a critical role in food security and economic growth in Thailand. However, production processes continue to suffer from inefficiencies, particularly overfilling losses, which result in excessive material consumption, increased operational costs, and excess carbon dioxide gas emissions. This study aims to develop an Integrated Sustainable Portfolio–Green Lean Six Sigma (ISP–GLSS) framework that strategically integrates three key dimensions: (1) product portfolio strategy using the เมทริกซ์บีซีจี, (2) process performance improvement through Lean Six Sigma tools (DMAIC, SPC, and DOE), and (3) sustainability assessment based on Green Manufacturing principles and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs). A case study methodology was employed in a terrestrial feed manufacturing company in Thailand. The product portfolio analysis identified swine feed as the most strategically significant product in terms of market share and growth, which was subsequently selected for process improvement. The results demonstrate substantial performance improvements, including the elimination of overproduction and defects, an increase in the Sigma level from 2.07 to 5.88, and an enhancement of process capability (Cpk) from 0.19 to 1.46. Overfilling losses were reduced by 7,986.69 kg per month, yielding an annual financial benefit of 1,245,923.25 Baht and a reduction of 83.65 tonCO₂e per year. The findings confirm that the ISP–GLSS framework effectively integrates operational excellence with environmental sustainability and contributes directly to SDGs 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), and 13 (Climate Action).
