Abstract
Machine Availability Improvement for Automotive Parts Manufacturing Industry by Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM)
This research aims to adapt Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) in the automotive parts manufacturing industry in order to show that RCM can improve reliability of the machine and reduce wasted time due to the damage of the machine during production in the case study. The RCM approach is initiated from selecting machine criticality that affects production process, identification of sub-system and functional failures, categorizing critical components in each sub-system, analyzing failure modes and causes, identifying effects and consequence, selection of appropriate maintenance tasks. Finally, implement the preventive maintenance, from the research, CNC Machining center (Brother) was selected as a machine for the case study. After the adaptation of Reliability-Centered Maintenance plan, it was found that the average machine availability increases from 92.72% to 96.45% or increases 4.02% . And Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) increases from 1,622 minutes/machine to 4,460 minutes/machine.
