The Design and Development Packing Machine for Increase Packing Process Efficiency of Kluay Chap
Main Article Content
Abstract
The objective of this research is to design and develop suitable packaging for kluay chap and improve efficiency in the kluay chap production process using flow process chart to collect data. The cause analysis was conducted using fishbone diagram, revealing that there was 1 step that resulted in waste during the packaging process. In this step, manual labor is required to pick up the kluay chap in bags several times and weigh them before sealing the bag to achieve the desired quantity. The researchers addressed this issue by designing a new packaging machine that facilitates easier packaging and enables the measurement of the weight of the kluay chap to meet the standard requirements. After the improvement, the production time per cycle reduced to 2,373 seconds, which is a decrease of 11.39% compared to the original packaging process that took 200 seconds, resulting in a reduction of wasted time by 185 seconds, equivalent to 92.50%. Additionally, 1 step in the weight checking process was eliminated, and the average weight of the kluay chap before the improvement was 136.10 grams, which exceeded the standard weight criterion of 130 ± 5 grams. After the improvement, the average weight was adjusted to 130 grams, ensuring that the weight of the kluay chap falls within an acceptable standard.
