A New Approach to Generate From-To Chart for Solving Uncertainty Data in the Dynamic Plant Layout Problem
Today's world economy, manufacturing plant had to be able to respond quickly to change in product mix and demand. In addition, demand of customer was fluctuation data. With this uncertainty data, it is affected to the changing of flow data in from-to chart. The from-to chart was a tool, showing the data flow (volume, trip, cost) between facilities, for analyze the pattern of the data flow. It used for analysis the pattern of data flow which important to make a decision in plant layout for rearranging manufacturing facilities to improve the material handling efficiency. Moreover, the optimal plant layout is changed when manufacturing plan changed. Then, this study aims to introduce a new approach to convert the data of manufacturing plan from demand of customer to from-to chart. Using this approach, it may have flexibility for plant layout design. Numerical examples were used for verification. The experimental results shown that the proposed approach is effective to change the data. Thus, the solution data from this approach may be useful and flexible for solving dynamic plant layout problem (DPLP).
