The Expectation of Cooperative Education Students’ Work Core Competencies from the Students and Employers’ Opinions in the Engineering and Technology Group
The purposes of this research were 1) to study the expectation of cooperative education students’ competency for working in opinions of the students and employers in the engineering and technology group. 2) to compare the expectation of cooperative education students’ competency for working in opinions of the students and employers in the engineering and technology group. This research using questionnaires to the sample are cooperative education students and employers (including manager or head of department or equivalent in an establishment that is supervisor or staff mentor or supervision of students) in the engineering and technology group from cooperative education network in lower Northeast part. The sample included 765 and 327 people respectively. The quantitative research methodology was adopted in this survey includes percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-Test, and validity test. The result has shown that the both groups of samples had high level of expectation in cooperative education students’ core competency in descending order of below; integrity, service mind, teamwork, achievement motivation and expertise respectively. The students in the cooperative education and entrepreneurs had high expectation in 8 students’ work skills which were 1) teamwork skill 2) adaptation skill 3) computer and calculation skills 4) management skill 5) communication skill 6) creativity skill 7) problem resolving skill and 8) work professional skill in high level. In addition, the hypothesis test revealed that the both groups of samples had no significantly different expectations towards their 5 work competencies and the 8 skills at the 0.05 significant level.
