Guidelines for Food Waste Management

Abstract
This article presents the situation of food waste crisis. Data from United Nations and the European Union about food of the world project named “Food and Nutrition Sustainability Index” for the year 2017 report that about 1.3 billion tons of food are wasted every year worldwide from “throw” or “leftover”. This volume is accounting for one-third of the total amount of food production. Food Waste is mainly found to dispose in landfill or the fertilizer process. However, these processes are causing the green house gas which destroy the atmosphere as much as the emissions volume from industrial nations like the United States of America and People's Republic of China. This article compiles the management of food waste in different countries include developed countries, developing countries and the implementations in Thailand. The data are reported by using the literature review, document analysis, and presented in analytical descriptive report. The summarizing is subjected to be a guideline for reducing the problem of food waste as well as the guideline for dealing with food waste issues in the future are offered.
