ENERGY LANDSCAPING FOR ANALYTICAL OPTIMIZATION: PROTEIN FOLDING PROBLEM

Predicting the shape of an unknown protein, the protein folding problem is one of the most difficult global-optimization problems. Due to the complex energy landscape, locating the protein conformation with the lowest energy is a complicated and time-consuming process. This article presents the background of the protein folding problem, discusses its difficulty, and introduces a method of energy landscaping that improves the efficiency of the analytical optimization in the protein conformation prediction process.Downloads
