Publication ethics

Academic Journal of Uttaradit Rajabhat University  

          The Academic Journal of Uttaradit Rajabhat University is a medium of presenting and publication of original research and academic articles with an emphasis on the work of solving area-based problems. The research results musts demonstrate the utilization of actual outcome which can be implemented to other areas.  The journal works in related and systematic fashion where authors, editors, and reviewers could coordinate in the publishing and managing procedure. Within this process, researchers, academics, students, and anyone could publish the original academic work in an appropriate and qualified format. The journal structures its transparency of good governance of accountability which ensures the quality of publicized works to the academia according to the international standards and maintain the standard of publication ethics.

The editors have released the guideline, practice, and publication ethic code of the Academic Journal of Uttaradit Rajabhat University and relevant persons which are divided into three groups in the regular cycle and criteria for article publication including authors, editors, and peer-reviewers as follows:

Duties of Authors

1. Authors should ensure that they have written entirely new and original works, and the manuscript should not be submitted for publishing to other publications or published elsewhere.

2. Authors should appropriately quote or cite to provide a citation whenever the authors refer to information that is derived from an original source of work through referencing or bibliography to indicate evidence of retrieval.

3. Authors must format their manuscripts according as directed by the journal (Guides for Authors)

4. The authors are required to report their research findings without fabrication, falsification, or data manipulation.

5. Authors must not publish manuscripts describing essentially the same research in more than one journal or primary publication, and should not copy any particular text from their own other research and claim it as a new work.

6. Authors must identify the funding source, if applicable.

7. Authors whose names appear in manuscripts should contribute and be accountable in the actively involvement of research, reviewing, or report their research findings.

8. Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest when submitting the manuscript.

9. Authors are required to submit evidence of research ethics approval by institutional review board or relevant committee if the research is conducted human or animal subjects.

10. Authors must not interfere the process of consideration of publication, article reviewing, and management of the journal.

11. Manuscripts which are rejected for publication by the reviewers could not be re-submitted for evaluation or publication although revisions have been made according to the reviewers’ recommendations.

12. Authors must know that the submitted manuscripts under review or published with the Academic Journal of Uttaradit Rajabhat University are subject to screening using one of plagiarism prevention software such as Akarawisut, CopyCatch, or Turnitin. A text similarity below 25% is acceptable by the journal.

 

Duties of Editor 

1. Editors must initially consider the article’s quality for publication of the journal.

2. Editors are required to maintain information about the article, without disclosing the information about the authors and reviewers to unrelated persons over the entire process of assessment of articles

3. Editors are required to publicize articles according to the format, components, and regulations as directed by the journal.

4. Editors are required to make decision in selecting articles for publication. Over the process of article assessment, an emphasis is put on significance, originality, precision, and relevance of content and policy of the journal.

5. Editors must not publish manuscripts which were previously published in other journals.

6. Editors must not claim a partial or all of the submitted paper as his/her own.

7. Editor must bear no conflict of interest with the authors, the reviewers, or the executives.

8. Editors are required to inspect to prevent interference during the process of consideration of publication, article reviewing, and management of the journal.

9. Editors are required to detect the submitted manuscripts for plagiarism with reliable plagiarism prevention software to certify that manuscripts are not copied from others’ work.

10. In case the plagiarism is found, the editors shall stop the process of reviewing and contact the author for explanation, while considering whether to “accept” or “reject” the said article.

Duties of Reviewers

1. Reviewers are required to maintain confidentiality without disclosing full or partial information about manuscripts to other unrelated persons during the process of reviewing.

2. Reviewers are required to notify the editors or decline the invitation for the assessment of manuscripts in case conflict of interest with authors is found in the manuscripts as being reviewed such as being contributors, advisor, or any reasons to freely give opinions or recommendations.

3. The reviewers should evaluate only manuscripts relating to their expertise by considering the significance of content, and the quality of analysis and intensity of work. Personal opinions without supporting evidence should be used as criteria in the consideration of publication.

4. Reviewers are required to review manuscripts according to the fact and the criteria provided by the journal under the academic principles without prejudice towards the manuscripts. The reviewers must not intentionally distort the results of reviewing and incline their own personal opinion without sufficient supporting evidence as criteria in considering manuscripts for publication.

5. Reviewers are required to review and comment the manuscripts on academic grounds for the authors in details. Revision of the manuscripts is mainly aimed as benefits for the academia.

6. Reviewers are required to be able to identify the significant research or key academic work which is relevant to the manuscripts they are reviewing when the authors do not insert in their manuscripts. Besides, if any parts of the manuscripts resemble or reduplicate other pieces of work, reviewers must report the reduplication to the editors.

7. Reviewers must not interfere the process of consideration of publication, article reviewing, and management of the journal.

 

Human and animal research ethics policy

          Manuscripts from research submitted for publication which are related to the research conducting human and animal subjects require ethic approval from institutional review board or relevant committee.
