Development of New Entry Employees’ Potentiality Model for Industrial Business in the Age of Disruptive Economy

Abstract

The purposes of this study were: 1) to identify potential components of new employees for preparing them to work in industrial business in the age of disruptive economy, and 2) to develop a model for improving new employees’ potential for industrial business in the age of disruptive economy. The study applied mixed methods of qualitative and quantitative approaches. The participants for qualitative data in the in-depth interview for 5 industrial business executives, and the participants in the focus group seminar were 18 experts from various businesses. The quantitative data were obtained from 216 administrators composed of managers, supervisors working in 108 enterprises in Bangkok and vicinity. The research instruments were in-depth interview questions, questionnaire and evaluation form for validating the developed model. The qualitative data were analyzed by content analysis and the quantitative data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, i.e. frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation and exploratory factor analysis. The results revealed that the model to develop new employees’ potential for industrial business in disruptive economy comprised 3 dimensions with 5 components. 1) Working Attributes dimension consisted of 2 components; Work ethics and Self-performance at work, 2) Working Ability Skill dimension consisted of 2 components; Application of working style and Digital technology and 3) Knowledge Apprehension at work dimension consisted 1 component; Knowledge and understanding work processes. The model to develop new employees’ potential for industrial business in disruptive economy was approved by the experts in the focus group seminar with unanimous agreement for its appropriateness in application at high level with the average of 4.11.
