Abstract

The landrace rice is cultured in the traditional farming for household consumption and only collected for the next reproductive seasonal. The genetic variation is found in both within the same variety of landrace rice and between the different fields. Thus landrace rice is possible to be important genetic diversity resource for environmental change settle. There still have several of landrace rice in Phitsanulok province. This study investigated and collected the landrace rice seed for culture and taxonomy for 39 characteristics. The result showed that there are 70 varieties of landrace rice in all 9 districts and the highest variation of landrace rice was found in Nakhon Thai district as 23 varieties. From all of those landrace rice varieties, 58 varieties are nonglutinous rice and 12 varieties are glutinous rice. Interestingly, many of the landrace rice can grow in the dried land and moreover some of them are the disease and pest resistant. So the data collection of landrace rice in Phitsanulok province will be helpful for conservation of landrace rice. Moreover, this data will be useful for the rice breeding program in the future.
