Simulation of Wind Turbine Characteristic Using LabVIEW

Abstract
This paper presents simulation of wind turbine characteristic using the LabVIEW. Inputs are wind speed and pitch angle to calculate power and torque. The power coefficient is repeatedly calculated in term of a tip speed ratio. The load can be adjusted via graphic user interface, that makes it easy to understand dynamic of a wind turbine. Simulation results show the operation of a wind turbine, that corresponds with its theoretical characteristics. The developed simulation is well suitable for education lab and renewable energy research.
