Optimum Design of Axial Loaded Reinforced Concrete Column using Bisection Algorithm
Keywords:
Optimum design, Bisection algorithm, Reinforced concrete columnAbstract
An optimum algorithm for computing reinforced concrete column axial loads using a bisection technique was designed and tested using Microsoft Visual Basic 6. It was based on the EIT. Standard 1007-34 working stress design method. The algorithm was tested on three examples with varying axial forces and concrete covering. The bisection algorithm performed 21 percent faster than the hill climbing algorithm and its implementation is simple.
