Abstract
Today, many older consumers are prescribed medication to be taken before, during and after meals. Proper dosage is essential for effectiveness, but quantities of medications may be confusing. This research developed an intelligent pillbox with a notification system to alert older consumers and caregivers about dosage times on pill boxes and through a mobile phone application (app) by using the Internet of things. The system checks on whether the old consumer has consumed the medication by infrared sensor with notification ready in case of failure. In addition, linear regression was applied to estimate intervals between meals for subsequent dosages.
