Development of Infographic Media on Nutrition for Patients with Chronic Non-Communicable Diseases

Abstract

Education through nutritional counseling is another way to help prevent or reduce the risk of developing chronic non-communicable diseases (chronic NCDs). The use of teaching materials that are easy to understand and interesting will allow patients to understand more about the disease. Especially, during the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak, one-on-one and group nutrition education in hospitals may not be appropriate due to being close to the patient can cause infection. The objective of this research is to develop an infographic on nutrition for non-communicable disease patients, consisting of causes, symptoms, behaviors, and dietary principles. This research was a quasi-experimental research by randomly sampling patient volunteers, 30 cases, who come to receive services in the outpatient department Rajthanee Hospital Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province. The results show that nutrition infographics for non-communicable diseases can help increase patients' nutritional knowledge. Because the results of the nutrition knowledge test found that After disseminating the infographic media, patients were able to answer questions correctly more than those who answered incorrectly at the statistical significance level of 0.05, while before disseminating information to educate patients, there was no difference in knowledge.
