This paper proposes switched beam antenna system for wireless local area network operating at 2.4 – 2.5 GHz. The proposed antenna enables switched beam of four directions cover 360 degrees in azimuth plane. This antenna system consists of unidirectional radiation pattern of array element, RF switch and processing unit of MFOA optimization algorithm that is employed to find the maximum signal strength and control the RF switch. From simulated and measured results, the antenna system has an impedance of 50 W, |S11| less than -10 dB along the operating frequency, and can be switchable HPBW of 100 degrees with 6 dBi gain. Finally, the prototype antenna is demonstrated that it can be used with wireless local area network.
