This research study aims to find the weld penetration of Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW) of Quenched and Tempered High Strength Steel for heavy equipment. To study the effected of welding condition as the welding current, arc volt and gas shielding with flux core arc welding process. By determined the welding current 160, 180 and 200 Amp and arc voltage 20, 22, 24 V respectively. Welding on flat and horizontal position with Argon, Carbon dioxide and Argon mixed Carbon dioxide shielding gas. To compare the welding penetration, relate with the welding current, arc voltage and gas shielding by inspection of weld quality as weld profile, penetration, width of weld and compare the mechanical test with microstructure. The experimental procedure preparation of base metal is quench and tempered high strength steel has the dimension of width 100 mm long 300 mm and thickness 10 mm. Use the solid wire electrode flux core wire E111T1-GC H4 diameter 1.2 mm. Welding speed 15 cm/min, electrode extension 18 mm. The result shows the highest of weld penetration occur from the high welding current of 200 Ampere, 24 Voltage and gas mixed between Ar and CO2 with flat welding position. In the welding condition produce the weld profile are symmetry the leg of weld is flat with the surface of fillet base metal is show the excellent of penetration of weld metal with base metal. The macrostructure show the leg penetration are excellent.
