(Applicatipn of identification and determination of roots of polynarnial to transition problems in open channel flow)
Main Article Content
Abstract
The transition problems in open channel flow usually involve solving polynomial equation for the required answer (s). Application of numerical analysis involving discrimination of number of positive roots using Descrates' rule, approximation of initial root value by linear or quadratic equation and improvement of initial approximation by Newt.on Raphson method to the value desired. The technique yields a rational approach in obtaining the solution. Furthermore, the efficiency of the technique is improving with the capability of existing pocket calculator in the market.
