Abstract

The characteristics and effects of raw materials and their  compositions for making insulating firebricks were studied. The raw materials used are rice-husk ash, ball clay from Sakolnakorn, and kaolin from Udonthani. The compositions were varied to be 17 formulae. After mixing and shaping, the samples were then fired at 1300⁰C for 30 minutes. Subsequently, some important properties were tested following standard methods set by the office of Industrial Products Standards, Ministry of Industry, The obtained results show that there are 8 formulae of prepared firebricks having essential properties which meet the standard.
