Experimental study of pyramid solar cooker
Main Article Content
Abstract
This paper reports on an experimental investigation into the performance of pyramid solar cookers. To this end, two pyramid solar cookers of 0.52 m2 aperture area were built using two different reflective materials. Mirrors (reflective area of 1.73 m2 )were used as the reflective material in the first cooker; whereas, in the second recyclable CD-ROM dices (reflective area of 1.46 m2) were used. Experiments on both solar cookers were simultaneously with the mirrors provided a stagnation temperature 32ºC higher than the pyramid solar cooker using the CD-ROM dises . If the reflective area of both solar cookers were equalized. The stagnation temperature difference between the two cookers may be reduced. The solar cooker utilizing the mirror reflector collects more hear when compared to the CD-ROM disc reflector. Moreover, the solar cooker with the mirror reflector has the potential of cooking several different types of foods.
