Guidelines for the Management of the Student Screening System of Chumphon Technical College under the Office of Vocational Education Commission

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to: 1) study the needs for student screening system management, 2) develop guidelines for student screening system management, and 3) evaluate the developed guidelines for student screening management. This study employed a research and development (R&D) design, consisting of three phases. Phase 1: Needs Assessment –questionnaires were used to collect data from 59 participants consisting of school administrators and teachers. Phase 2: Guideline Development – the instrument was a focus group discussion protocol of 9 experts. Phase 3: Guideline Evaluation – the instrument was an assessment form to evaluate appropriateness and feasibility of the guidelines validated by 5 specialists. The data were analyzed by research statistics including mean, standard deviation, content analysis, and the modified priority needs index (PNI_modified).

The research findings were as follows. 1) Needs Assessment: the highest priority need in the input factor was the development of effective operational innovations (PNI_modified = 0.27). For the process factor, the priority was on using operational results to improve and develop further actions (PNI_modified = 0.21). For the output factor, the need was for appropriate student grouping (PNI_modified = 0.16). 2) Development of the guidelines and input: the emphasis was placed on systematic innovation development. Process: school administrators should participate in every teacher PLC (Professional Learning Community) meeting. Output: homeroom teachers should study the screening criteria and group students accordingly. 3) Evaluation of the guidelines: the developed guidelines were rated as highly appropriate and feasible by the experts.
