The Model for Vocational Education Management of Pakchong Technical College for the Underprivileged People

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to: 1) study the situations and guidelines for vocational education management, 2) develop a model and conduct a fieldwork-tryout, 3) implement the model in the real situation, and 4) evaluate the developed model. This research and development study has been divided into 4 parts with 4 groups of research participants. The total number of the sample group was 170 people consisting of 4 administrators, 24 teachers, 24 persons from education section, and 118 underprivileged people. The data were collected by questionnaires, an interview, a focus group discussion, and a report form analyzed by percentage, mean, standard deviation, and content analysis.

The research findings revealed that 1) the situations of the vocational education management was overall at the average level. The guidelines for the vocational education management consisted of 3 components. 2) The results of the model development showed that the model consisted of 3 components. The overall tryout results showed a high level of satisfaction, knowledge and understanding. 3) The results of the model implementation revealed that the satisfaction, knowledge, and understanding were overall at the highest level. 4) According to the evaluation, it was found that (1) the achievement of all 118 trainees passed the curriculum criteria. (2) The competency of the trainees who passed the assessment was 90.64 %. (3) The opinions towards the model was overall at the highest level. (4) The satisfaction of the model users was overall at the highest level. (5) After the model implementation, all 118 underprivileged trainees received sentence reduction, group promotion, parole, or release. (6) Moreover, there were 15 trainees who passed labor skills standards test. In conclusion, (7) all 118 trainees have passed the short-term vocational training course.
