Development of Education Management Model for Career Competence Enhancement of Secondary Students in Educational Opportunity Expansion School

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to: 1) conduct the needs analysis for enhancing career competence of secondary students in Educational Opportunity Expansion Schools, 2) investigate the best practices for enhancing management for career competence of secondary students in Educational Opportunity Expansion Schools, and 3) develop an educational management model for career competence enhancement of secondary students in Educational Opportunity Expansion Schools. The research methodology is a combination of quantitative research and qualitative research.

The findings of this study are as follows. 1) The needs analysis of the career competence of secondary students in Educational Opportunity Expansion Schools reveals that the students want to improve their occupational planning skills at the first priority. Other needs include the improvement on their occupational planning knowledge and the career knowledge development. 2) The content analysis of the best practices of the education to improve the occupational competency for lower secondary education of opportunity expansion schools by using in-depth interviews from two model schools (Ban Muang Kued and Ban Chan) shows that the model consists of two compositions, i.e. educational management process to enhance a career competency for students and teaching methods to enhance a career competency for students and educational result. 3) The educational teaching model to improve the occupational competency for lower secondary education of opportunity expansion schools consist of four compositions, i.e. (1) vision and school policy, (2) readiness preparation and administration, (3) knowledge management operation, and (4) project performance appraisal. This model was evaluated by experts with very high level in all aspects.
