Development and Efficiency Finding of 10-45 Degree Rocking Cable Pliers for 185-square Millimeter Cable

Abstract

 The objectives of this study were to: 1) develop the 10-45 degree rocking cable pliers for 185-square millimeter cable, 2) find the efficiency of the 10-45 degree rocking cable pliers for 185-square millimeter cable, and 3) find the users’ satisfaction on the 10-45 degree rocking cable pliers for 185-square millimeter cable. The sample group were 20 electrical technicians of PEA (Provincial Electricity Authority) in Nakornsithammarat Province derived by purposive sampling technique. The research tools included data record form and questionnaires analyzed by mean and SD.

The results showed that the developed 10-45 degree rocking cable pliers for 185-square millimeter cable  consists of a set of wood handle, Bakelite frame which is insulator and heat resistance,  one-way rotation  bearing mechanism, and cutting set with cutting blade and cable stripping steel blade. When comparing the stripping time between the developed cable plier and the 360 degree rotation stripper, it was found that the time spent for one meter cable was reduced by 45.7 seconds or 57.1%.  For two meter cable, it took 117 seconds on average or 66.5% faster. For three meter cable, it took 198.4 seconds on average or 58.6% faster. For four meter cable, it took 257.5 seconds on average or 61.5% faster. Moreover, the users reported very high satisfaction on the10-45 degree rocking cable pliers for 185-square millimeter cable.
