Development and Speed Measurement of Knock-Down Durian Peeling Device

Abstract

The purposes of this research were: 1) to construct the knock-down durian peeling device; 2) to compare the speed of durian peeling speed between the knock-down durian peeling device and the traditional durian peeling knife; and 3) to study user’s satisfaction on the knock-down durian peeling device. The sample consisted of 30 durian consumers who live in Songkhla Province by a specific selection method. The research tools included the experimental record form and the satisfaction questionnaire. In this study, research statistics included mean,  percentage, and standard deviation. The results showed that: 1) the developed knock-down durian peeling device could peel durian assessed by the experts at the highest level.  2) The speed comparison showed that the knock-down durian peeling device was able to peel durian faster than the traditional durian peeling knife. The knock-down durian peeling device could perform at the average time of 1.59 minutes per fruit while the traditional durian peeling knife consumed 4.01 minutes per fruit.  Moreover, the users reported very high satisfaction on the developed device.
