The Study on The Relationship of The Ancient Through Present Culture for The Development of Cultural and Civilization Database for GMS and Malay Peninsula Regions

Abstract

The objective of this study is to conduct the study on the ancient culture and society along the north-south and east-west cultural corridors in Thailand and neighboring countries. The purpose of selecting GMS and Malay Peninsula as the study area along the north-south and east-west cultural corridor is to be able to conduct the research in parallel tracks. In the next phase of this research, the result from each corridor were compared and analyzed to identify the relationship between the culturesof these corridors in order to make the conclusion of this study. The subtopics of this study were selected from the topics of interest from the study of Living Angkor Road Project. The current study can be considered as the continuation of the Living Angkor Road Project. The methodology of this study is multi-disciplinary approach that has been demonstrated since the beginning of our research. The main topics of this study include: the continuation study on ancient roads, the study on the relation of ancient sites in the region, the study on ancient metal industry, and the development in information technology.

The results from this study yield the information that can be utilized to de-monstrate the relationship of the local culture from the past to near present from the archaeological evident together with the result from area-based study. The broader view the regional relationship can be identified along the north-south and east-west cultural corridor. The development and expansion of culture in the regional level can be demonstrated in term of communication, industries, etc.
