Abstract

The smart grid technology is one of advanced technologies to enhance electric efficiency for energy management system (EMS) in the world.  It is an innovation that has been practicably combined between information and communication technology (ICT) integrated with transmission grids. Smart grid enables two-way communication and transfers reliable and real-time information. As for consumer technology acceptance is recently the most important technology to public. However, many studies have been investigated consumer acceptance technology and perception to smart grid. Various theories and models related to technology acceptance have been clearly investigated and described. Especially, there is focused most well-known model such a Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) integrated with technology acceptance theories and models such as Diffusion of innovation theory and Social cognitive theory and Perceived risk. This study is aimed to discover a hybrid model from the mentioned theories and models by using determinants that affect the acceptance and impact on the variance of the smart grid technology to consumers. These issues might affect the decision of customers in the use of innovative technology. In addition, these output and outcome could be approached a proposal recommendations in the form of actionable steps to development for regulators, policymakers, system designers and developers such as smart grid provider, smart meter manufacturer and appliance manufacturers to influence current policies and system design and implementation processes. These considerations take the consumers perspective rather than designing, developing and deploying a smart grid in without understanding consumers, their nature and what affect their opinions and behaviors.
