WAY TO BECOME STREAMERS AND GUIDELINES FOR STREAMING CAREER DEVELOPMENT IN STREAMERS’ VIEWPOINTS

Abstract

This research is a qualitative study aimed to 1) study the way to become streamers in dimensions of process of entering career, career behavior, success and obstacles in career and important characteristics of a good streamer; and 2) to discover guidelines for development of streaming career in streamers’ viewpoints. Population were five fulltime and five part-time streamers, total of ten persons who purposively selected. Research instruments include semi-structured interview forms and field notes; verified by three experts. Collected data were analyzed by means of content analysis. Results revealed that; when comparing between fulltime and part-time streamers, the fulltime streamers had more followers and viewers, more longer streaming (live) time, more interactive behaviors and giving more intention toward their viewers, and more received incomes and rewards. Similarities of both fulltime and part-time streamers revealed in their process of entering career, success and obstacles in doing job and views toward career successfulness. Both groups of streamers perceived that the important characteristics of a good streamer should include the love of streaming career, industriousness, being self, speaking skills and emotional quotient. Results on guidelines for streaming career development show that streamers were not giving emphasize on having government-related organization who will be monitoring streaming career since they were worrying on the freedom of work nature. Significant factors that influencing streaming career are the effort of streamers themselves; streamers’ quality, competency, and their roles toward social responsibility. When streaming career were raised and accepted widely, streaming career can be an interesting choice for people with the new normal life.
