Abstract

The objectives of this research were to 1) study and analyze the configuration of self-directed learning (SDL) skills enhancement activities for 10th grade students in the technician subject; and 2) design the self-directed learning (SDL) skills enhancement activities for 10th grade students in the technician subject. Population and respondents in this research were selected by using a purposive sampling method, to provided information about the self-directed learning (SDL) skills enhancement activity. Sample groups consisted of three teachers who teach the technician subject and six experts in design and technique skills. The research instruments consisted of semi structured interviews, questionnaire for experts in content and media production, and assessment form for the circuit connection experiments. The study and design of self-directed learning (SDL) skills enhancement activity for 10th grade students in the technician subject, found that digital media was a learning media that allowed students to have self-study before practicing with advices from teachers, so that students can accomplish the learning process as designated by teachers. The overall assessment of self-directed learning media from content experts was very good with a mean (μ) of 4.83, standard deviation (σ) of 0.38. Moreover, the overall assessment of media production was good with a mean (μ) of 4.14 and standard deviation (σ) of 0.77. Furthermore, three types of electrical circuit connection experiments were assessed by three experts. The experts gave highest scores to type three circuit connection experiment and the overall assessment was good with a mean (μ) of 4.42 and standard deviation (σ) of 0.41
