A STUDY OF LEARNING ACHIEVEMENT FROM THE READING FOR PASSAGE MAIN IDEA UNIT AND THE READING COMPREHENSION OF GRADE 6 STUDENTS BY USING PANORAMA

Abstract

The objectives of this study were to: 1) compare learning achievement of the Reading for Passage Main Idea learning unit of grade 6 students before and after learning with PANORAMA; 2) compare learning achievement of the Reading for Passage Main Idea learning unit grade 6 students after learning with PANORAMA with the 70 percent criteria; 3) compare reading comprehension of grade 6 students before and after learning with PANORAMA; and 4) compare reading comprehension of grade 6 students after learning with PANORAMA with the 70 percent criteria. The samples included 27 students in grade 6 at Ban Bu Tako School, obtained by group random sampling. The tools used in the research consisted of learning management plan, achievement test, and reading comprehension test. The data were analyzed were mean, percentage, standard deviation, and t-test. The results of this study indicated that the learning achievement of the Reading for Passage Main Idea unit of grade 6 students before and after learning with the PANORAMA were 45.80 percent and 76.90 percent, The achievement after learning was significantly: higher than before learning at the .05 level. and higher than the 70 percent criteria, The reading comprehension of grade 6 students before and after learning with the PANORAMA were 44.93 percent and 76.80 percent. The after reading comprehension was significantly higher than before learning; and higher than the 70 percent criteria, at the .05 level.
