This paper aimed to study and analyze the patterns of arts learning activities of children. The seventeen samples used in this research were kindergarten teachers at Wat Lat Pla Klao (Public) School and indergarten teachers at Kalayawith (Private) School. The instrument was a structured questionnaire. This paper also aimed to design an art activity series to develop children’s creativity. Three experts were selected for their experience in art activity series design. The instrument was a questionnaire designed to evaluate the experts’ opinions on art activity series for the development of children’s creativity.
The findings show that the most suitable and relevant activities for the children were creative activities and unstructured activities. Suitable colour tones were 1) blue tones, 2) green tones, 3) red tones, 4) orange tones and 5) yellow tones, suitable shapes were 1) unstructured shapes and 2) natural shapes and suitable types of activity were drawing and painting. From 18 art patterns, the art patterns which could be developed into art activities were Pattern 1 (Circus stand), Pattern 3 (Circus equipment lorry) and Pattern 10 (Circus dome) which scored the highest –57 points and was ranked number 1. The researcher then analyzed the patterns based on their practicability to become a prototype and found that Pattern 3 (Circus equipment lorry) was suitable to be a prototype, scoring higher than the mean level (= 4.47, S.D. = 0.56). In terms of practical usage, the pattern was suitable for and relevant to children’s skills, was easy to maintain and be fixed and its material was also suitable (= 4.67, S.D. = 0.58). This pattern was attractive, eye-catching and creative in its design (= 5.00, (S.D. = 0) Of the 5 sketches of packages, the researcher analyzed the sketches based on their practicality when becoming a prototype and found that Sketch 1 (Red-white box) was suitable (= 3.90, S.D. = 0.42). In terms of practical use, this package was remarkable for its flexibility, applicable to every pattern and of a decent size (= 4.67, S.D. = 0.58). This package was also easy to use and light (= 4.33, S.D. = 0.58). Its graphic design was excellent in displaying clear fonts and letters (= 4.00, S.D. = 0.00). The language used in the package was easy to understand (= 3.67, S.D. = 0.58). Lastly, its colours were vivid and could be seen from a distance (= 3.33, S.D. = 0.58).
