The Development of English Teaching Materials at the Early Childhood Level through Hologram Technology

Abstract

The objectives of this study were 1) to develop the English teaching materials at the early childhood level through hologram technology, to increase motivation in learning for early childhood, 2) to compare academic achievement of children before and after learning with English teaching materials at the early childhood level through hologram technology, and 3) to study teachers’ satisfaction with English teaching materials at the early childhood level through hologram technology. The sample of this study was 35 kindergarten 2 students of Tessaban 8 Anuban Fun Teepenching School, Trang Province. The developed supplementary materials for teaching English language consisted of two parts: 1) Web browser-based lesson management system developed with HTML PHP jQuery JavaScript CSS AJAX, database management with MySQL, and media presentation with Autodesk Maya, Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe Photoshop, and 2) Three-sided Pyramid Hologram Display Set. Data were analyzed with mean, standard deviation, percentage, and t-test. The research results indicated that the English teaching materials at the early childhood level through hologram technology can actually increase learning motivation in preschool children. As a result, the sample had the higher post-learning achievement than the pre-learning achievement with a statistical significance level of 0.01. From the results of efficiency evaluation by experts in aspects of technique, content and usage, it was found that the overall efficiency of the system was at a high level. The evaluation results of satisfaction of the instructors on English teaching materials at the early childhood level through hologram technology was at a high level. And the satisfaction of the learners observed from the instructors was at the highest level.
