Abstract

This research aims to develop and manufacture of a high efficiency low pressure steam generator for the household industry. The principle of the low pressure steam generator will require the collaboration of the steam production of water tubes and fire tubes. The water tube and fire tube sets are designed to be within the same case to increase the ultimate surface area for heat from the hot gas that generated by the combustion. The generator will run at atmospheric pressure. The water is filled continuously by the gravitational force. Thus, it does not require an electricity equipment to run but using LPG as a source of heat energy instead. From the test of the low pressure steam generator, using the level of water in the receiver at 17 centimeters 20 centimeters and 25 centimeters, it is found that its performance of the thermal efficiency at 17 centimeters was the most effective about 71.3%. The study of cost on steam production found that the total cost to produce steam was equal to 1.69 Bath per kilogram.
