Abstract

The objectives of this research were 1) to study and analyse children’s toys which develop the artistic imagination of 7-year-old children, and 2) to design children’s toys for these children. The methodology involved two stages. In the first stage, this research analysed both primary and secondary information about children’s toys which developed the artistic imagination of 7-year-old children. The population and the samples for this stage were two individuals and the research tools were a semi-formal interview, video recording and writing recording. Qualitative data analysis was employed. In the second stage, children’s toys which developed the artistic imagination of 7-year-old children were designed. This stage involved as populations and samples three experts in children’s toy design and three experts in children’s toy packaging. The experts were selected based on a minimum of five years of experience. The research tools were a rating scale and opened-ended questionnaires. Quantitative data analysis was employed.


The result shows that the Model 3 of children’s toys that developed the artistic imagination of children was found highly suitable with a mean of 3.88 and a standard derivation of 0.72, the Model 1 of children’s toy packaging was found to be very suitable with a mean of 4.5 and a standard deviation of 0.5.
