GUIDELINES FOR INFUSION INSTRUCTION OF ETHICS AND MORALITIES IN LEARNING AREA OF SOCIAL STUDIES, RELIGION AND CULTURE

Abstract

The purposes of this research were to 1) study the state of infusion ethics and moralities into teaching social studies, religion and culture of lower secondary social studies, religion and culture teachers 2) implement how to infuse ethics and moralities into teaching social studies of lower secondary social study teachers. The sample consisted of 237 lower secondary social study teachers in the Secondary Educational Service Area office 3 selected by multi-stage random sampling. Data were collected through format questionnaire. Descriptive analysis and content analysis were used for the data. The research findings were as follow:


1) Infusion ethics and moralities in teaching social studies, religion and culture of lower secondary social study, religion and culture teachers took action in high level for all aspects.


2) Guidelines for infusion ethics and moralities in teaching social studies, religion and culture of lower secondary social study, religion and culture teachers consisted of (1) Identification learning objectives in ethics and moralities aspect; teachers should identify objectives relating to content which would be evaluated and assessed themselves. (2) Providing learning activities aspect; teachers would rather introduce into lesson by presenting news or short VDO clip so that they can link with ethics and moralities. Moreover, focusing on group discussion activity is an efficient way. (3) Learning activity evaluation and assessment aspect; teachers had better cover with knowledge, ethics attitude, ethical reasoning and behavioral performance. (4) Classroom interaction aspects: (4.1) teacher and students interaction; teachers should know each of the students in order to plan activities properly and be a role model. (4.2) students interaction; teachers should promote students to leadership, using democracy ,principles in classroom and and respect for different opinions
