STUDY OF NEEDS ASSESSMENT ON TECHNICAL SKILL TRAINING COURSE OF PRE – OPERATION TECHNICIANS IN AUTOMOTIVE SERVICE CENTER

Abstract
This research intended to study needs assessment on basic technical skill training course of pre-operation technicians in automotive service center in the area of Bangkok Metropolitan and vicinity through questionnaires developed by the researcher. The data were collected from technicians in automotive service centers consisting of 320 after sales service manager, service center managers, and technician supervisors. Research statistics included frequency, percentage, arithmetic mean, standard deviation, and modified priority needs index (PNI modifies) through computer program.
The results showed that the sample group reported in the overall at high needs. When considering in more details, it was found that the aspect with the highest needs was on the practical use of mechanical instrument followed by safety at work, factory regulations, equipment maintenance, and basic mechanical equipment respectively. According to the modified priority needs index, it can be listed orderly as follows: mechanical instrument (PNI = 1.61), equipment maintenance(PNI = 1.01), factory regulations (PNI = 0.81), safety at work (PNI = 0.79), and basic mechanical equipment (PNI = 0.77) respectively.
