DESIGN GUIDELINES FOR AGING SOCIETY ACTIVITY CENTRE IN PATTAYA CITY

Abstract

This study is aimed to explored a case study of an design guidelines for aging society activities center in pattaya for improving and promoting  the quality of life of elderly people including with the government’s promotion of spending leisure time doing beneficial activities by the elderly for  their own and social benefits.The objectives of this study were 1) to investigate physical characteristics of the Senior Activity Center, 2) to investigate the Center layout problem, and 3) to propose the approaches to the Center layout preparation. The samples of this study consisted of elderly aged 60 years and above. They were general elderly people and members of elderly clubs from public and private sectors.The questionnaires were used to collect data from 200 elderly people.


The results of this study showed that retired elderly people and those with wisdom and experience still need to generate social benefits. Thus, data obtained were analyzed and used for designing Senior Activity Center layout that meets the desires of elderly people in terms of their happiness, comfort, and safety. The Center establishment is the approach to the development of the location for senior activities.The findings of this study could be applied to several similar projects.
