Abstract

The purposes of this mixed method research were :- 1) to study of the characteristics of teacher as role model in community academic services from the perception of Srinakharinwirot University students. 2) to study exploratory factor of the characteristics of teacher as role model in community academic services from the perception of  Srinakharinwirot University students. Research sample were students who have experience in participating in the community academic services of Srinakharinwirot University student project. This research divided into 2 phases. Phase 1 was a qualitative research utilizing content analysis by interviewing 30 students with snowball technique. Phase 2 was a quantitative research collecting data from 150 students with stratified technique and analyzing the data using exploratory factor analysis.


Research results are summarized as follows: 1) the characteristics of teacher as role model in community academic services from the perception of Srinakharinwirot University students are teaching personality that is well-suited with students and the community, and understanding the student nature which builds a positive relationship between teachers and students, between teachers and community, and also motivates students to passionately help develop the community. Therefore, teachers have to be a good role model in working with the community, in terms of attitude and behaviors. 2) the results showed that there are four key characteristics of teacher as role model in community academic services from the perception of Srinakharinwirot University students, they are 1) teaching techniques of teacher 2) interactions between teacher and students 3) teaching personality of teacher and 4) teachers’ understanding of community
