Abstract

The purpose of this study was study students in mental models. The purposive group was 15 graduate students in Educational Technology, Faculty of Education, Khonkaen University. The instruments of this study were web base learning environment developed based on CLEs and interviewing questionnaires. The mental model analysis was used for explanation, interpretation, and conclusion from interviewing. The results of this study was as follows. 1) Procedural mental model: the procedural of learning was started from learner analyze problem base and argue in their group. They tried to discover the solution by learning from information resource, related case before and social support. Learners were also asked experts to nd out the solution. If a learner answers correctly, the learner learns next problem base. If the learner answer incorrectly, the learner correct the answers based on the expert guided solutions. The learners can use this procedural to learn in web base learning environment developed on CLEs. 2) Analogy mental model: a lot of learners were used analogy by finding principle of constructivist in problem base and related case. If the principle was similar to each other, they were analogized the method in related case to solve the problem in the problem base. From this analogy, the learner remembers the method of problem solving by remembering the principle of constructivist and problem solving. When the learner encounters another problem, he can apply the principle of problem solving. But some mental model remembered from situation. If the learner encounter with other different problems, the learner can analogies previous situations to the problems by adjusting the context of corresponding problem.
