Abstract

Study of application of diesohol on small diesel engine was conducted in order to study the smalldiesel engine performances and diesohol properties in various diesohol ratio namely 95:5,90:10,85:15,80: l0 and compare the test results with diesel fuel. From the test we found that the best diesohol ratio was90 : 10 by to volume. The engine used was 4 stroke small diesel engine with 1 piston, brake power of 3.5kW, without radiator and a capacity of 230 cc. with diesohol at a ratio of 90 : l0 by volume at engine speedof 2,200 rpm, the torque was 6.9 N-m, brake horse power of 1.589 kW and specific fuel consumption of 360.60 g/kw-h. In case of using diesel fuel at the same conditions the torque was 7.0 N-m, brake horsepower of 1.612 kW and specific fuel consumption of 345.03 g^W- h. Using diesohol at this mixing ratiodecreased brake horse power 1.43 Va and increased the specific fuel consumption 4.32 Vo. By analyze theeconomic aspect using this diesohol mixing reduce the cost about 0.29 baht/kw -h compare with using purediesel fuel. (When diesel cost was 30 bahtliter and ethahol cost was 16 bahtliter)
