Information System Development for Managing Waste Data to Promote Income Generation of the Community

Abstract

This research and development of information systems for waste data management promotes income generation for communities of Ban Khlong Sam Phraek community, Phra Samut Chedi District, Samut Prakan Province. The study aims at developing an information system for managing waste data that enhances income generation for the community, evaluating the quality of the developed information system. By developing the Zero Waste Shop web application, and assessing the web application with a total of 5 related evaluations, the IOC value is ranged between 0.60 - 1.00. Results are analyzed using mean and standard deviation. The system is developed using the Scrum process, concepts of Agile, consisting of 5 steps: 1) analyze User Stories, 2) create a Product Backlog, 3) define Sprint Planning, 4) develop web applications, and 5) evaluate the quality of web applications. Application is divided into 8 sub-tasks; the Product Backlog is arranged in order of work using the Stack Ranking method, divided into 7 Sprints.  Total development period is 28 weeks. There are relevant users including members, agents, administrators, and super administrators. The web applications is developed with PHP V.8, JavaScript, Ajax, jQuery, HTML5, Laravel Framework  and Bootstrap, MySQL database as well as JWT techniques to encrypt data security. The results: 1) The efficiency evaluation by 5 experts which indicates the overall efficiency at the highest level (Mean=4.66, S.D.=0.21); 2) The web application design evaluation by the committee of the community of 15 people, which shows their satisfaction of the overall design at the highest level (Mean=4.66, S.D.=0.21); 3) The satisfaction assessment by two groups of users, namely 15 community committee members and 50 community members, which reflect the overall satisfaction at an average of 4.27 and 4.25 and an S.D. of 0.51 and 0.63, respectively; and 4) The evaluation of technology acceptance by a committee of 15 community members, which reveals the overall acceptance at a highest level too (Mean=4.56, S.D.=0.50). In addition, the results of the lesson learned reveal that users are aware of how to use the application and accept the use of the technology created.
